The management of The Victoria Falls Hotel today is a 50/50 partnership between Meikles Africa Hotels and African Sun Hotels that was formalised in 1998 as another fascinating episode in the hotel's rich history.
Previously the management, and lease from the National Railways of Zimbabwe, were in the hands of Zimbabwe Sun Hotels (now African Sun). Meikles Africa, owners of the iconic five-star Meikles Hotel in Harare and the acclaimed Cape Grace in Cape Town, liked the synergies with The Victoria Falls Hotel - style, grandeur, elegance and pedigree.
Thus negotiations of a mutually rewarding partnership began that today bears fruit in tapping into the expertise and history of both hotels and organisations. Both hotels are members of the prestigious invitation-only Leading Hotels of the World and both have reached the century mark - The Victoria Falls Hotel opened for business on 8 June 1904 and Meikles Hotel Harare turns 100 in 2015.
